DiskPrune privacy policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
DiskPrune is a Mac app that helps you see where your storage went and remove what you choose. This page says what it does with your information. The short version: DiskPrune does not collect your data.
What stays on your Mac
- DiskPrune reads file names, folder names and sizes on your Mac to show you what uses space and what can be removed. This information is never uploaded. It is used only on your Mac, and the last scan is saved there so the next launch can show it.
- The folders you add to the Cleanup List, what was removed and when are kept in a small history file on your Mac, so you can restore items from the Trash. You can delete this history by removing the app's data folder.
What leaves your Mac
- Scanning rules. The app can download a small, signed list of rules (what to look for, how to sort it) from a public GitHub page. Like any web request, GitHub sees your IP address when the app asks. Nothing about your Mac or your files is sent. The app uses the list only if it carries our signature.
- App updates. The app asks the App Store whether a newer version exists. This is a normal App Store request handled by Apple.
- Purchases. The free trial and the one-time unlock are in-app purchases handled entirely by Apple. DiskPrune never sees your payment details or your Apple ID. It only learns, from Apple, whether the trial or the unlock is active.
What we do not do
- No accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no third-party SDKs.
- We do not sell or share data, because we do not collect any.
Your choices
- The app only looks at the places you allow. In the App Store edition you choose your disk once when you first open it; you can take that permission back at any time in System Settings.
- Nothing is removed without your review and confirmation. Removed items go to the Trash by default.
Children
DiskPrune does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
